An Innovative Approach.
In 1989, I graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London, sustaining a successful career in theatre & screen under my stage name, Victoria Scarborough (www.victoriascarborough.co.uk). During the late '90s, I stumbled across the Brazilian martial art, Capoeira, and within a short time, became immersed in the art form, travelling to Rio and learning Portuguese. Alongside my acting career, living in South London Brixton, encouraged by my Mestre, I eventually began to teach the art form. I supported and led many workshops, inspiring Brazilian practices with the broader community. Moving to Brighton in the early 2000s, putting my acting career on hold after welcoming my second child, my passion for cycling led me to become a cycling and maintenance instructor. In this capacity, I enjoyed mentoring primary school kids and running a niche bicycle business in the Sussex area.
In my 40s, I returned to university amidst the delightful chaos of parenting, earning a First-Class Honours degree in English Literature and Creative Writing. While pursuing my degree, in 2013, I began teaching part-time at Chichester University, eventually becoming programme coordinator and senior lecturer for screen acting and film production students. Passionate about creative processes, I have remained dedicated to mentoring and teaching undergraduate and MA film students ever since while nurturing my enthusiasm for writing, directing, producing and sometimes, acting!
Over the last five years, I have developed a profound interest in exploring consciousness, especially its connection to imagination, our inner narrative voice, persona, and self-image.
Since relocating from London in 2007, Brighton has been my home. I hold a deep affection for this vibrant, multicultural city rich in culture and history, and it is genuinely fulfilling to be part of such a diverse and extensive community.
